County Regulations
The areas served by the West Skokie Drainage District are subjected to the regulations of the Lake County Watershed Development Ordinance (commonly referred to as the WDO). Details or any questions concerning the WDO can often be addressed by the Engineering Department of the municipality where property is located.
Local Regulations
- Discarding or placing grass clipping or other materials within the banks drainage channel is prohibited. Storm events dislodge loose materials within the streambanks which can result in blockages and/or damage downstream drainage structures.
- Other activities including damaging streambanks or blocking discharge structures which impair the functionality of the District’s drainage system are prohibited.
